Common Questions

Everything you need to know before walking through the door.

What should I wear to my first class?

Just wear comfortable athletic clothes — shorts and a t-shirt are fine. If you have a gi (BJJ uniform), bring it, but it's not required for your first visit. We recommend going barefoot or wearing flip-flops to the change room.

Do I need any prior experience?

None at all. Our adult classes are specifically designed to welcome complete beginners. You'll be guided through everything, and you'll never be thrown into sparring before you're ready. Most people are surprised by how fast they pick things up.

How much does it cost to train?

Your first class is completely free — no strings attached. For ongoing membership pricing and options, reach out via the form above or call (289) 216-8486 and we'll walk you through everything.

Is Jiu-Jitsu safe for kids?

Yes. Our kids' programs are specifically age-appropriate and taught by coaches with extensive experience working with children. Safety is our first priority. No child is forced into sparring or competition — we move at each child's pace.

Do I need to compete to progress?

Absolutely not. Competition is available for those who want it, but it is never a requirement. Countless members have trained for years and progressed through the curriculum without ever competing.

What's the difference between Gi and No-Gi?

Gi classes use the traditional BJJ uniform (jacket and pants), which adds an extra layer of grip and technique. No-Gi classes are done in shorts and a rash guard, and tend to be faster-paced. Both styles are taught at Infinum BJJ.
